Twenty years ago, my world shattered. My father—a man of kindness and integrity—was brutally murdered by people we once called family friends. They sat at our table, shared our laughter, and then took his life in an act of greed and betrayal.
I was eight years old.
The killers were arrested, and for a fleeting moment, justice seemed within reach. But power and privilege tipped the scales. Witnesses disappeared. Case files vanished. The system, designed to protect us, turned its back. My family was left with grief, unanswered questions, and a void that no apology could ever fill.
That day, I made a silent vow: I would find a way to fix this broken system.

Years later, as a law student at Makadara Law Courts, I met an inmate whose story mirrored my pain. He had spent three years in prison—not for a grave crime. He was there because he couldn’t afford a lawyer, didn’t understand the charges against him, and had no idea how to defend himself.
He sat in court, day after day, watching justice unfold like a play in a language he didn’t speak.
That night, I couldn’t sleep. I saw my father’s face. I saw the same injustice, the same silence, the same system that fails the poor. And in that moment, AI Magerezani was born.

We’re starting with a pilot at Industrial Area Prison—a facility with no computers, no legal training programs, and little hope for those who can’t afford representation.
